Securing Critical Infrastructure with ISO-Base Technology

Base Isolation is a seismic resilience technique employed in structural engineering to mitigate the impact of earthquakes on buildings and infrastructure. It involves the installation of isolators between a structure's foundation and superstructure.

Seismic Base Isolation works by decoupling away strong ground shaking and vibrations at the sub-structure (or ground level). This protects the critical equipment placed above it. Additionally, the decoupling action of a well-designed isolator can dramatically reduce the pathway through which damaging vibrations travel.

This innovative approach significantly minimizes structural damage, protects people from harm, and preserves the functionality of critical infrastructure, such as hospitals, data centers, and emergency response facilities.

The WorkSafe
Solution

WorkSafe Technologies™ was the first to apply the base isolation method to the protection of critical business infrastructure, IT equipment, and nonstructural components. We introduced ISO-Base™ and its patented Ball-N-Cone™ rolling isolation technology over twenty years ago.

Our Ball-N-Cone™ rolling isolation system is far superior to other isolators on the market when used on non-structural components. This is due to the scalability and overall simplicity of their design. Isolators used on buildings and bridges are much more complex and require exacting precision, unlike rolling isolation systems. This makes them less practical and far more expensive, for use on infrastructure equipment.
