ISO-Base Seismic Isolation Solutions Designed for Every Application

Modular

Modular Data Centers are increasing in popularity due to their ability to be deployed quickly and less expensively than traditional data center builds.

The ISO-Base™ Seismic Isolation Platform can be used in Modular Data Centers in a variety of ways. Just as in a traditional build, ISO-Base™ can be deployed underneath server cabinets inside the Modular Data Center to help secure your operational continuity during and after an earthquake. We can install the ISO-Base™ Seismic Isolation Platform before or after deployment of the modular data center.

ISO-Base™ Seismic Isolation Technology can also be used to isolate the entire Modular Data Center from the outside, allowing greater displacement and mitigation from seismic shock and vibration damage. This way, the entire Modular Data Center will be isolated from the earthquake damage.

The ISO-Base™ platform can be easily integrated into the modular design of data centers, allowing for scalable and rapid deployment without extensive site modifications.

Liquid Cooling

Another newer and popular feature in Data Center builds is the use of liquid cooling to manage heat from more densely packed server cabinets. Whether this is in-row cooling, direct-to-chip, or done through other methods, the ISO-Base™ Seismic Isolation Platform can be used with Liquid Cooled Cabinets. This integration is particularly beneficial for high-density data centers where liquid cooling is essential for managing heat from powerful computing resources.

ISO-Base™ works in a similar way with Liquid Cooled Cabinets as it does with traditional air-cooled racks. The modifications to the system are minor, only requiring flexible cooling lines, which are used commonly. ISO-Base™ may even extend the lifespan of some of the cooling hardware by reducing everyday vibration, in addition to providing premium seismic protection. This leads to less maintenance and operational costs in a Liquid Cooled Data Center.

Super Computing

Super Computing is changing the way data centers operate because these systems are larger and heavier than ever before. As this technology evolves, the ISO-Base™ Seismic Isolation Platform is being improved step by step. From new features like larger displacement capacity to QuakeCoat™ liners, these and other advancements in our platform technology make ISO-Base™ the number one choice for seismic mitigation of Super Computing Data Centers.

WorkSafe Technologies™ was trusted to install ISO-Base™ at two of our nation’s most vital supercomputing systems, the Sierra and El Capitan systems at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Despite the challenges of these larger rack systems, with cabinets being twice as wide and weighing almost four times a standard heavy cabinet, the ISO-Base™ Seismic Isolation Platform was customized to work seamlessly in this high-performance environment. Integrating ISO-Base™ in High-Performance and Supercomputing Centers like these ensures that these systems remain operational and functional during and after seismic events.

Edge Computing

Edge Computing is a term used for IT architecture processed on-site or as close to the user source as possible. Latency of Data Transfer is a huge issue, and Edge Computing solves that. However, this means  critical equipment is now in closer proximity to the user and susceptible to earthquake damage. Integrating ISO-Base™ into the future wave of Edge Computing is essential for enhancing system resilience and reliability.

Many major corporations and others are based in seismic areas, from Silicon Valley to Los Angeles to Seattle, etc. ISO-Base™ protects Edge Computing Equipment in these areas by providing premium protection from seismic threats.

Aisle Containment

With high demands for faster processing speed and more densely packed server cabinets, managing airflow is a must. This is why Aisle Containment is one of the most popular features in modern data center architecture. Whether featuring in-row cooling, hot aisle, or cold aisle containment, ISO-Base™ has been engineered to work with your containment system in a variety of ways.

From Aisle-Bridge™ for existing installations or working with containment manufacturers to integrate ISO-Base™ into the design of the system, we’ve used our seismic isolation platform for aisle containment systems in every conceivable way. ISO-Base™ is a modular set-up, so it is easy to customize to your system design.
